Pastor – Rev. John C. Nguyen (Fr. Chung), Fr. Chung was ordained at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in May of 1999 where he first was assigned to Saint Stanislaus Parish and Apostolate to the Vietnamese Community here at SMG for 9 years, from there he went on to teach at Archbishop Wood High School. Following that assignment Fr. Chung was appointed Secretary to Archbishop Chaput where he remained for the past 3 years. Welcome Father Chung to your new home, where we are proud to have you as our new pastor! Congratulations!
Permanent Deacon – Rev. Mr. Peter Niche was born in Dunkirk, New York son of Sam & Elizabeth Niche and the oldest of three boys. Deacon Peter attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Elementary School in Silver Creek, New York, and Silver Creek Central High School. He graduated from the University of Rochester in 1978. Peter married Maureen in 1986 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Rochester and they have one son, James. Deacon Peter went on to get his MBA at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. Later he attended St. Bernard School of Theology and Ministry for his formation where he was ordained a Deacon on May 22, 2004 and got his M.Div. degree in 2009. His first assignment was at St. Patrick’s Church in Victor, NY. His career brought him to Pennsylvania where he was eventually assigned to Saint Maria Goretti Parish in November 2012.
Oblates of St. Francis DeSales, In 1876, a small band of six men, headed by Father Brisson, pronounced their first vows as Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, and began to live the religious life in Troyes, France.
Despite humble beginnings, the order experienced a rapid growth. Oblate communities now exist in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, South America, South Africa, Namibia, Switzerland, and the United States. Although the principal undertaking of the Oblates in the United States is the Christian education of youth, members devote themselves to many other varied apostolates to serve human needs.
